JEDDAH: Zahid Tractor & Heavy Machinery Company Ltd., a major reputable business enterprise, yesterday announced that it is giving up passenger car business as part of a new strategy to sharpen focus on its high growth core businesses. We will force the pace of vertically integrating our business-to-business activities with further upstream and downstream investments, Zahid Tractors President and Chief Executive Officer Waleed Y. As part of the new strategy, Zahid Tractor will end its passenger car franchise agreements with Renault Cars, Volvo Cars and SsangYong Motor Company, he said, adding that the company has informed the carmakers of its decision and will work closely with the manufacturers to facilitate a smooth and amicable transfer of the franchises to new distributors. Our decision was not easy as Renault, Volvo and SsangYong have been excellent partners, with world-class products, and Zahid Tractor has been privileged to work with them for many years, Zahid added. While new dealers are appointed, Zahid Tractors showrooms and after-sales facilities will remain open for business, offering customers high quality vehicles at great value, as well as first-class service. By working closely with the manufacturers and new distributors, Zahid Tractor will ensure that its customers will not be affected adversely by the decision, he said. Zahid Tractor, however, continues to be the Kingdoms distributor for the Volvo Truck, Volvo Bus and Renault Truck companies.
