Formed in 1998 as a joint venture with Volvo Truck Corporation, AVI assembles and sells Volvo and Renault trucks in the Kingdom. AVI has since increased its annual production capacity from 600 units in 1999 to almost 3,000 units in 2015. To meet growing demands, a state-of-the-art, 55,000-square-meter facility was built in King Abdullah Economic City. It is one of the first plants in the world to assemble both Volvo and Renault trucks on the same production line, with a designed capacity of 5,000 trucks per year in a single shift.
AVI develops local talent by hiring and training young Saudis who are then employed at AVI’s factories. AVI adheres to the highest international standards. It became ISO 9002-certified in 2000 and OHSAS 18001:2007-certified in 2010.
Zahid Industries was established in the Yanbu Royal Commission in 1990. ZI specialized at the time in generator sets assembly, metal fabrication, and the manufacturing of enclosures built to customers’ specific requirements using local materials and supporting national industry. The company also manufactured complementary products such as sound attenuated units, mufflers, fuel tanks and steel support bases.
The company has always focused on developing a workforce composed largely of hiring locals from the surrounding villages. Employees receive training at Zahid Learning Institute with programs aimed at enhancing technical, administrative and managerial skills.
In 2016, Zahid Industries launched the new electrical production line to assemble a full range of low volt panels. These panels are designed in partnership with Motech “Netherlands” a company under Terberg Control Systems Co and manufactured by Zahid Industries locally.
In 2018, Zahid Industries acquired a new factory in Jeddah and entered into the superstructure business (Products include tippers, tankers, reefers, bulkers, trailers, Concrete Mixers, Pumps assembly and mounting and wreckers) business as part of its diversification plans.
Formed in 2007, Saudi Total Petroleum Products (Saudi Total) is a joint venture between Zahid Group and Total, one of the world’s largest international oil and Gas Companies.
Saudi Total manufactures and markets a wide range of lubricants specialty products for the automotive, industrial and marine industries. After experiencing exponential growth in the country, Saudi Total opened its own state-of-the-art blending plant in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in 2013, a 50,000-square-meter facility with annual production capacity of 42,000 metric tons per each single shift. Saudi Total plans to quadruple its capacity over the next few years to meet rapidly growing local and regional demands.
In 2014, Zahid Group became a substantial shareholder in Total’s Marketing and Services affiliate, Total Maroc, acquiring a 30% stake.
Active in Morocco for more than 90 years, Total Maroc is a major operator across the petroleum products market, including service stations, industry, lubricants, aviation fuel, LPG and logistics. The company has steadily supported the country’s economic development from the outset through substantial capital spending programs. Today, Total Maroc sells in excess of one million metric tons annually and has more than 300 service stations throughout the country, including eight on highways. Total Morocco is the third largest retailer of petroleum products and services in Morocco.
