Letter from the CEO

Dear Colleagues,

As a leading organization, with a focus on quality, best-in-class practices, and delivering excellence in all that we do, it is important we participate as a responsible member of our community and continuously identify areas in which we can make a positive impact.

In consideration of how we can enhance sustainable practices within our organization, we have identified single-use plastics (SUP) as an area where we can make a difference by virtue of eliminating their use throughout our Group, and replacing the SUP products we are using today with sustainable alternatives that are environmentally friendly.

I am certain we have all been witness to the harm plastic waste has on our environment. Its effects are far reaching and include, jeopardizing life on land, in our oceans, damaging landscapes and coastlines, and ultimately harming each of us and our loved ones. Left unchecked, the harmful impact we are witnessing today, will have devastating effects on our planet and our future generations. In achieving our stated goal we will have a significant, positive impact on our families, communities, and planet.

I am hereby pleased to launch the Zahid Group’s “SUPLess” initiative. The objective will be to fully phase out the use of SUP throughout Zahid Group by the end of 2022. This initiative will be rolled out within our Group companies and divisions in various phases, some achieving our target earlier than others, all of us having made the switch by the end of 2022.

I look forward to each of us providing our full support to the committee members, and implementing the actions required to achieve a SUPLess Zahid Group. The combined impact of our individual efforts will have both a direct impact in terms of the material reduction in the use of SUP in our environment, as well as driving wider change as we set an example for others to adopt in our communities, both personal and professional. This is for all of us.

Attached you will find facts on SUP that you may find useful and informative.

Best wishes,
Zayd M. Zahid
